'The Blob' remake planned
Published Monday, Nov 1 2004, 08:15 GMT | By Daniel Saney
Producer Scott Rudin (The Village, Sleepy Hollow) is to take the helm in reworking The Blob for a modern audience.
The 1958 original helped to launch Steve McQueen when a large blob of jelly landed on Earth. The blob keeps growing while local townsfolk disbelieve a group of teenagers' warnings.
The movie has already enjoyed one remake in 1988 directed by Chuck Russell (The Mask, Eraser, Collateral) in a screen play by The Shawshank Redemption's writer/director Frank Darabont.
The identities of the director and cast for the new remake are as yet a mystery.
