Downey Jr: 'Law and I have great chemistry'

Robert Downey Jr has admitted that he and co-star Jude Law share great chemistry in the upcoming film Sherlock Holmes.

The actors star as Holmes and his sidekick Watson in director Guy Ritchie's remake, while the helmer reportedly wrote the famed Sir Arthur Conan Doyle detective as gay.

"It's called circumstantial homosexuality," Downey Jr said at Comic-Con, in response to co-star Rachel McAdams's claim that the movie's primary love story will be between the two sleuths.

The Iron Man star revealed that he didn't have to go to great lengths to push Law for his involvement in the project.

He added: "Before he said he was going to do the movie, before he said that he was available, before he said that he either did or didn't want to be courted, we just started talking like two serious actors about what would need to happen to make this work as a piece of straight drama.

"We just became really close, really quickly, because we just rolled up our sleeves and started working from jump."

It was reported earlier that director Jon Favreau has confirmed that there will be a third Iron Man instalment.

Sherlock Holmes will be released in cinemas on December 26.
