According to The Sun, the 20-year-old actor has recently been receiving advice from David Barron, who is producing Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows.
It is believed that Radcliffe got his first taste of his new career path last week when he helped to direct a scene being filmed in the Dartford Tunnel.
A source revealed: "Daniel has told friends he is looking for a project to direct when he finally waves goodbye to Hogwarts. He has been approached by a number of producers.
"He wants to direct something gritty and hard-hitting. David has been giving him guidance on how to reach his goal."
Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is in cinemas now. Deathly Hallows, the final film in the series, will be released in two parts in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
