Diaz confirms 'Green Hornet' role

Cameron Diaz has confirmed that she will play Lenore Case in the upcoming Green Hornet movie.

The Charlie’s Angels actress will co-star with Seth Rogen in the superhero project, about a millionaire playboy who becomes a masked vigilante by night aided by his sidekick Kato.

She told MTV: "Lenore, yes, and I think that's all I can tell you or else I would have to kill you. I read the whole script. I know what happens exactly, and I'm not telling you."

Diaz's role was described by director Michael Gondry at San Diego Comic-Con as "a crime specialist" and "a big fan of the forensics TV shows". Her character will unwittingly help the titular hero and his associate on their first series of missions.

It was earlier announced that Nicolas Cage is in discussions to play the film's villain.

Green Hornet is due to arrive in cinemas on July 9, 2010.
