The project was first announced in 2006 with Benicio Del Toro tapped to play the titular monster who is transformed from man to wolf under a full moon after being bitten by a werewolf.
The remake of the 1941 classic movie had been scheduled to open on three separate occasions earlier this year - February 13, April 3 and November 6. However, the picture has now received a new release date of February 12, 2010, says Shocktillyoudrop.com.
It was reported earlier that Universal Pictures had initially planned on scheduling the horror film for summer 2008, though this was cancelled after original director Mark Romanek dropped out, before being replaced by Joe Johnston.
The update also stars Sir Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt and Hugo Weaving.
