Ron Howard is attached to direct Universal's adaptation of Robert Ludlum's novel The Parsifal Mosaic, says Variety.

Road To Perdition screenwriter David Self will write the script based on Jason Bourne creator Ludlum's story, which revolves around a CIA agent who sees his KGB double agent lover get executed.

Universal initially considered using The Parsifal Mosaic's plot for its Bourne Ultimatum follow-up, but opted instead to develop the projects as two separate movies.

Howard's Imagine Entertainment partner Brian Grazer will produce Mosaic. The firm recently oversaw Frost/Nixon and Angels & Demons.
