McConaughey, Mendes may be 'Southbound'

Jonathan Jakubowicz is directing the project from a Peter Craig script.
The plot follows a patrol officer (McConaughey) on the California/Mexico border who takes a bribe from a beautiful Mexican woman. The deal lands his family in danger and embroils him in a war between Mexican criminals and US immigration authorities.
Shooting is expected to begin in September.
