It is understood that part of the highly-anticipated follow-up was to be set in Dubai, but the government of the strict Muslim nation has refused to allow production to go ahead, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
"The UAE authorities aren't keen on the title because of the word 'sex'," a source told Us Weekly.
Filming for the latest movie is also said to have been pushed back to the end of August in New York City.
A US magazine previously claimed to have leaked storylines for the sequel, while star Sarah Jessica Parker has remained tight-lipped on what will unfold for her Carrie Bradshaw character.
