Renner joins Ben Affleck's 'The Town'

Jeremy Renner has joined the cast of Ben Affleck's new movie The Town.

Earlier this week, Mad Men star John Hamm and Rebecca Hall also signed up for the romantic crime thriller, which Affleck is adapted from Chuck Hogan's Prince Of Thieves novel.

The story follows a crook (Affleck) who falls for a teller (Hall) at the bank he robs. Renner will play Affleck's doomed best friend and fellow gang member, while Hamm is cast as an FBI agent who also becomes smitten by Hall's character.

Shooting is scheduled to begin in September.

Renner's latest project The Hurt Locker is released in the UK next month.
