The actress told BBC Radio 1 that she found it "very exciting" to play the fashion designer at a pivotal point in her life.
Regarding the possibility of success at next year's Academy Awards, she said: "That's so funny. The movie hasn't been released anywhere before except in France.
"I'm more concerned about the audience and whether they'll like this movie. I think it's very clever and I really like it."
