The studio and producer Marc Platt are in the developmental stages on an update of the 1973 film version of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Broadway musical, Variety reports.
(500) Days Of Summer director Marc Webb is said to be keen to helm the project. However, sources told the publication that he is not in negotiations with Universal and Platt at present.
The original film starred Ted Neeley in the title role and was the eighth highest-grossing movie of the year.
