V For Vendetta helmer James McTeigue will next direct an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's poem The Raven.

Speaking to Slash Film, McTeigue revealed that the movie will be a fictionalised account of the final five days of Poe's life, which sees the American writer pursue a serial killer taking inspiration from his works.

"It's like the poem The Raven itself, crossed with Se7en," said McTeigue. "It should be pretty cool. The script is really good and everyone responds to it really well. I'm in the middle of casting."

Hannah Shakespeare and Ben Livingston wrote the screenplay.
