'G.I. Joe' soars to top of US box office

Nora Ephron's Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams, has debuted in a distant but respectable second place with $20.1 million.
The animated feature G-Force remains steady at number three with $9.8 million and Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince takes the number four slot with $8.8 million.
Channing Tatum's action flick has knocked last week's champ Judd Apatow's Funny People to the number four spot with $7.8 million in its second week in release.
This week's third debut comes from the thriller A Perfect Getaway at number seven with $5.7 million.
Finally, (500) Days of Summer, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel, returns by jumping two spots to the number ten position with $3.7 million, pulling in a 34% increase from last week's number twelve ranking.
