Cruise's son 'joins Red Dawn cast'

Connor Cruise has joined the cast of the remake of Red Dawn, it has emerged.

The 14-year-son of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman will appear alongside Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck and Adrianne Palicki in the movie, about a group of US teens battling a Chinese and Russian invasion on American soil.

Josh Hutcherson, Isabel Lucas and Edwin Hodge have also been added to the cast of the update,
according to The Hollywood Reporter. Hutcherson takes on C. Thomas Howell's role of Robert from the 1984 original movie, while Lucas will portray Peck’s head cheerleader girlfriend Erica, who is trapped in an internment camp.

Hodge is cast as a wide receiver football player, while Cruise will take on the role of Daryl, the son of the mayor of Spokane, Washington.

Red Dawn is expected to open in cinemas on September 24, 2010.
