The studio's vice chairman Rob Moore said that a follow-up to the box office hit will soon go into development with or without the participation of director Stephen Sommers, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The movie's lead actors Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans and Sienna Miller are all contractually obligated to return to the franchise. However, the Mummy filmmaker is reportedly not under agreement to helm the second instalment.
Sommers recently said that he had already planned on working on a continuation to explore more "mythology" behind the elite military team.
