The big screen adaptation of Bradley Denton's novel will be scripted and directed by Robert Rugan, reports Variety.
Heder is cast as Oliver Vale, who has his average life changed when Buddy Holly turns up on every TV channel that he watches. Holly tells Vale that he is the only person who understands what is happening and the geek suddenly finds himself being hunted by a group of disguised aliens.
Shooting will begin when Heder takes a break from filming his new Comedy Central sitcom.
