House of Sand And Fog director Vadim Perelman is attached to oversee the MGM update of the 1982 horror movie, which will debut in cinemas on November 24, 2010, according to Shock Till You Drop.
Boogeyman scribes Stiles White and Juliet Snowden signed on to pen the project last August, while no actors have been announced as having joined its cast.
The original film starred Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams as suburban parents whose house is invaded by malevolent spirits who communicate with their 5-year-old daughter (Heather O'Rourke) through the family's TV set.
Tobe Hooper directed Poltergeist from a script by Steven Spielberg, Michael Grais and Mark Victor. The movie spawned two sequels, which were released in 1986 and 1988.
