The 19-year-old star has complemented her commitment to the movie adaptations of Stephenie Meyer's novels by appearing in a number of other projects, including forthcoming Joan Jett biopic The Runaways.
Stewart told EW: "It would've been smart to take some time off too, but I'm really glad I did Runaways. If it was Twilight all the time, I would go mad. To just play one character for four years, it's not what I do. I like to have variation. I like to change it up."
She continued: "To live one experience, it would be like I have this weird alter ego, alternate life, instead of slipping into a character for six weeks, sucking it dry, and leaving. It would be like four years of living like a f**king psycho person, thinking that I'm like Bella. You know what I mean?
"It would just be impossible for me. The tabloids would have a lot of crazy s**t to say about me in that case."
Stewart recently walked away with the choice actress drama prize at the Teen Choice Awards for her work on Twilight.
