The X-Men director is currently working on the movie, based on the series by Rob Liefield, which revolves around a group of government sanctioned superheroes.
Speaking to MTV News about possible casting, he said: "Definitely Robert Pattinson. He just feels like he belongs in that world.
"I don't only see him as a vampire. He's a really good actor. He could do anything. He just has that look... I picture him on Youngblood for sure."
Ratner did not specify which character he wants Pattinson to play, although it has been speculated that he could have tapped him for the role of team leader and expert marksman 'Shaft'.
Youngblood was one of the most popular comic book series of the 1990s.
