The filmmaker announced his plans to adapt the 1960s Hanna Barbera cartoon about a futuristic family into a full-length feature in June.
Rodriguez, who previously said that he hopes to start production on the project next year, is currently attached to co-direct Machete, as well as prepping the thriller Nerverackers and working on a Predator reboot and a possible sequel to Sin City.
The latter employed a digital backlot technology, also known as a green screen, during its filming. However, the 41-year-old insisted that he will not rely solely on the effect to render the year 2062 for The Jetsons.

The Jetsons originally aired on ABC from 1962 to 1963.
