Myers: 'Basterds role fulfilled a dream'

Rex Features

Mike Myers has reportedly revealed that his role in Inglourious Basterds helped him fulfil a childhood dream to play a British general.

The 46-year-old was eager to assume the part in Quentin Tarantino's new movie, as both of his parents served in the British armed forces and he has always fantasised about following in their footsteps, Angry Ape reports.

Speaking about his General Ed French character, Myers said: "My mum was in the air force and my dad was in the British army.

"I always wanted to be the British general who explains the mission, and in this movie I get to be."

Brad Pitt recently declared his delight in playing an arse-kicking soldier in the film.
