Warner Bros has initiated talks with Bryan Singer to produce a new version of John Boorman's film Excalibur.

The studio has just made a deal to share the movie rights with Boorman and is eager to bring Singer in to develop the project, says The Hollywood Reporter. The Superman Returns helmer is expected act as producer with Julie Yorn and Polly Johnsen.

Boorman's 1981 telling of the Arthurian legend starred Nigel Terry as King Arthur and Cherie Lunghi as Guenevere. The movie also provided early roles for Liam Neeson, Patrick Stewart and Gabriel Byrne.

Singer recently boarded Universal's Battlestar Galactica movie and is also in talks to make Jack The Giant Killer, a reinvention of the Jack And The Beanstalk tale.
