The 45-year-old, who stars in director Quentin Tarantino's WWII film Inglourious Basterds, said that there is no comparison between the two pictures, E! reports.
"It was a ridiculous movie," he told German magazine Stern. "The Second World War could still deliver more stories and films, but I believe that Quentin put a cover on that pot."
He added: "With Basterds, everything that can be said to this genre has been said. The film destroys every symbol. The work is done, end of story."
Pitt recently admitted that he enjoyed the "arse-kicking" aspect to his role in Basterds.
