Cleese 'earns $1m in 23 minutes for 'Shrek'

John Cleese has earned $1 million for 23 minutes' work.

The actor picked up his hefty paycheck for recording a scene for the fourth Shrek movie, reports the News of the World.

A film source said: "This is the ultimate sign that John can still make the big bucks."

The character Cleese plays, King Herald, was killed off in the last film but is required for a dream sequence in Shrek Forever, which is due out next year.

Sir Paul McCartney and Justin Timberlake will also make guest appearances in the fourth Shrek film.
