John Drew Barrymore dies at 72

Drew Barrymore confirmed in a statement yesterday that her father, John Drew Barrymore, has died at the age of 72.
No details about the time, place or circumstances of the actor's death have yet emerged.
Barrymore, himself the offspring of an acting legend, John Barrymore, had a rebellious streak which made for an interesting life in which he was jailed on occasions for drunkenness and spousal abuse. Towards the end, however, he led a more restrained and reclusive life. In a statement by his daughter, through her spokesman, she said: "He was a cool cat. Please smile when you think of him."
His last credited role was in The Clones in 1974.
