Terry Gilliam will be honoured at the inaugural Digital Spy Movie Awards.

The acclaimed director of Brazil, Twelve Monkeys and Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas will receive the Movie Legend prize when the DSMA winners are announced in early October.

"Is the award a heavy one or a light one?" Gilliam asked DS upon hearing the news. "I've got a lot of doors that need propping open, that's why!"

Gilliam's latest film The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus, which features Heath Ledger's final performance, arrives in UK cinemas on October 16.

Voting for the DS Movie Awards closes tomorrow.
