Guillermo del Toro has admitted that his forthcoming Hobbit adaptation will not be in 3-D.

The Hellboy director is to helm the two-part Lord Of The Rings prequel, with Peter Jackson acting as producer on the project.

However, del Toro dismissed claims that the movie will utilise 3-D technology, according to One Ring.

He explained: "I can safely say that, as of this moment, there are absolutely no conversations about doing the Hobbit films in 3-D."

The 45-year-old recently said that casting for the main character of Bilbo Baggins is "very close" to being revealed, while rumoured contenders David Tennant and Daniel Radcliffe have denied that they will play the lead role.
