20th Century Fox has set the wheels in motion to make an X-Men spin-off looking at the history of Magneto's formative years.
In the first X-Men film audiences saw scenes of Magneto as a child being taken to a Nazi concentration camp, and this is the period in which the film's events will occur. As a result of the plot's timeframe it perhaps unlikely that Sir Ian McKellen will make an appearance. The plot will also heavily feature the character of Professor Xavier, who was an Allied soldier involved in the liberation of the concentration camp. The pair start as friends but soon their relationship changes for the worse.
The story of Magneto's quest for revenge after his parents are killed is the second spin-off from the franchise, with a Wolverine project underway and being penned by Troy's David Benioff. It is thought that Magneto will be produced by X-Men duo Lauren Shuler Donner and Avi Arad.
