'Children of the Corn' remake in the works

The original 1984 film starred Linda Hamilton and Peter Horton as a couple who stumble upon a Nebraska town populated by youths that have killed off all of the adults in the region. The horror movie was based upon a Stephen King novella of the same name from his 1978 Night Shift short story collection.
Weinstein has hired Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen screenwriter Ehren Kruger to adapt the update, while he expressed a desire to bring "something new" to the project.
He told Variety: "We felt the [original] New World film was a missed opportunity. If you read the short story, it's got such a strong feeling to it and there's this religious overtone to it as well.
"Ehren wants to hit it hard. It's popular in Hollywood to say you're re-envisioning a project but a lot of the time they're just carbon copying the original. We are bringing something new to the story."
The first picture spawned six sequels and an upcoming television remake, which will star Daniel Newman.
