Stone 'doubts US will welcome new doc'

The Hollywood director explained that he has no illusions about the struggles that he will face in order to ensure that his documentary South of the Border, which criticises US policy towards Latin America, is shown in his homeland.
In an interview with Reuters at the Venice Film Festival, Stone highlighted other films dealing with the same subject that have subsequently been spurned or poorly handled by distributors.
"It's always a problem and this is not just me," he said. "Most films that deal honestly with south-of-the border issues run into this logjam.
"It's an American complex about the backyard, the South, it's been going on for a century."
