'Timbuktu' adaptation gets green light

Diane English (The Women) has been signed up to script and direct the project, which follows the story of a homeless man in Brooklyn and his loyal dog Mr Bones. Told through the eyes of the canine, the book sees the pair head off on the hunt for his former mentor and English teacher.
Timbuktu was first published in 1999. Auster's most famous works include The New York Trilogy, The Brooklyn Follies and Moon Palace.
