Nigeria's Information Minister Dora Akunyili complained that the sci-fi film portrays the country's residents as gangsters and criminals, Tiscali reports.
"We have directed that [cinemas in Nigeria's capital Abuja] should stop public screening of the film," Akunyili said. "We are not happy about it because it portrays Nigeria in a bad light."
The minister also said that the name of the film's main gangster Obesandjo is very similar to that of the Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo.
Akunyili added: "We have written to the producer and distributor of the film, Sony Entertainment, expressing our displeasure and demanded an apology.
"We have asked that the areas where Nigeria and Obasanjo are mentioned should be edited from the film."
