Arquette (Dewey Riley) and wife Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers) have already agreed to reprise their roles, although it has been rumoured that Campbell will not return as protagonist Sidney Prescott.
Speaking to Radar Online, he said: "I would love for her to come back, it'd be a bummer if she doesn't. But I also understand people's decisions.
"I haven't seen a script yet but I know Kevin's [Williamson] working on it as we speak. Hopefully we'll start shooting in the spring."
Williamson previously hinted that he might kill off Campbell's character in the movie, which will take place ten years after the events of Scream 3.
