Columbia 'in negotiations for He-Man rights'

Columbia Pictures has reportedly been in negotiations to acquire the rights for the film version of He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe.

Producer Joel Silver was developing a live-action version of the '80s cartoon with Warner Brothers but the studio parted ways with toy company Mattel after Silver had a disagreement with the firm over the direction the reboot would take.

Director John Stevenson is no longer attached to the proposed project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Actor Dolph Lundgren has previously played the role of the blond warrior in the 1987 film Masters Of The Universe, which co-starred Frank Langella as villain Skeletor.
