The film will will see 39-year-old Parker, who plays Carrie Bradshaw in the show, as a woman who goes to meet her boyfriend's family but meets a hostile reception from his overprotective mother.
Dermot Mulroney will play the boyfriend, while Diane Keaton will feature as his mother.
Other possible members of the cast in the as-yet-untitled film directed by Thomas Bezucha are Claire Danes, Rachel McAdams and Luke Wilson.
