The film, starring Cohen as eccentric Austrian fashionista Brüno, was a hit in both the US and UK after it debuted earlier this year.
However, members of Malaysia's Film Censorship Board are refusing to allow the movie to be screened in theatres because it could offend the country's largely Muslim population, Contactmusic reports.
A spokeswoman for the board said: "It's banned because the story is based on gay life... There are a lot of sex scenes. It's contrary to our culture."
The representative added that authorities also have concerns over the picture's jokes about sex toys and religion.
Brüno was banned by Ukrainian officials in July.
