The film stars Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint alongside Robert Sheehan, Kimberley Nixon and James Nesbitt.
A message on the movie's official website reads: "The Official Cherrybomb Campaign has been launched by ICM and The Little Film Company in order to ensure the widest possible cinematic release for Cherrybomb!
"In the present financial climate, it is proving difficult to sell independent movies to distributors; however, if the fans worldwide express their enthusiasm for Cherrybomb, then the chances of securing a distribution deal will rise dramatically!"
As well as adding their names to national petitions, fans of Grint and the movie have been urged to post on social networking sites and internet messageboards, as well as print fliers or place small advertisements in local newspapers.
