New Line has confirmed that it is lining up a sequel to 1983 comedy National Lampoon's Vacation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

David Dobkin (Fred Claus, Wedding Crashers) will produce and is expected to direct the movie.

The film will focus on Rusty Griswold, the son of Clark Grisworld, who was the central character in the original Vacation series. Rusty has become a father and will take his own family on a road trip.

Chevy Chase, who played Clark, and Beverly D'Angelo are expected to return for cameos in the new film, but no deals have been signed.

New Line executive Sam Brown has claimed that he would like the sequel to have a similar feel to Planes Trains and Automobiles and Little Miss Sunshine.
