Speaking to journalists at the movie's London Film Festival press conference, the helmer said that George Clooney, Kevin Spacey and the rest of the cast enjoyed fooling around when his back was turned.
"One day I walked off the set to go do something, I came back and George, Kevin, Ewan [McGregor] and Jeff [Bridges] were having the largest rubber band fight that I'd ever seen in my life. It was absolutely insane," he stated.
Heslov, who is Clooney's producing partner at their Smokehouse firm, added that he wasn't worried about the rubber band battle because he believes a movie set should have a fun atmosphere.
"We're so lucky to be able to do what we get to do so it should be fun, it shouldn't be a drag," he remarked.
The Men Who Stare At Goats, based on the true account of a group of US psychic spies, opens in the UK on November 6.
