According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio intended to shoot the superhero project at Sydney's Fox Studios but has reconsidered due to the strengthening Australian dollar.
"The current global economic situation, including fluctuations in currency valuation and overall costs. We have also had to reassess film projects in other countries as well. After working closely with our partners at the NSW Film and Television Office (Screen NSW) and examining every scenario, we have decided to move the production of Green Lantern," read a statement from Warners.
It is thought that the movie's production will switch to either Mexico or Canada, with filming due to commence next year.
Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds in the title role and will be directed by Martin Campbell. It is slated to arrive in theatres on June 17, 2011.
