EastEnders actor Shane Ritchie is being targeted by Steven Spielberg to play a rat.
40-year-old Richie, who plays Alfie Moon, has asked for time off from the soap in order to play a rat in a new animated comedy. The movie, currently with the working title Flushed Away, should also feature Johnny Depp and Nicole Kidman.
Another arrangement with Dreamworks will see Richie working with John Cleese and Kate Winslet.
His manager Phil Dale insists that his exit from Albert Square will not be permanent.
