In an interview with MTV, the Oscar nominee revealed that he would jump at the chance to star opposite Ryan Reynolds in the comic book adaptation.
"I just heard about this, literally," he said. "I know the guys that are doing it. It's exciting to me. It makes me want to go get the Green Lantern comics and start reading up.
"I heard about [Ryan Reynolds being in it], I'd love to work with him."
Haley - who is also due to star as Freddy Kruger in next year's Nightmare On Elm Street reboot - admitted that he is unfamiliar with the Green Lantern source material.
"I don't know much about it. I'm a comics fan, but I haven't gotten into that one yet. I guess I'd better do my homework," he said.
Green Lantern is slated for release in 2011.
