The project, which is expected to start shooting in 2010, will follow the story of Patrizia Reggiano and Maurizio Gucci. Three years after Gucci was murdered in his Milan apartment, his widow Reggiano was found guilty of paying for him to be killed. She is currently serving a 29-year jail sentence.
Jolie is being lined up for the femme fatale role as Reggiano. No actor has been confirmed for the part of Gucci yet, but Scott has apparently made an approach to Leonardo DiCaprio.
Fox is currently looking for a writer to pen the drama, which will also cover the 1970s and '80s when the Gucci firm was selling over $500 million of clothing annually.
Scott is currently in post-production on his Robin Hood movie, while Jolie's next big screen outing is likely to be spy thriller The Tourist.
