Kenny Ortega has said that the upcoming Michael Jackson movie This Is It contains moments of genuine honesty from the late superstar.

The director of the project told Radio 1 that the rehearsal tapes from which the film is made were never originally going to be released, Bang Showbiz reports.

Ortega said: "The recordings were made so we could use them, then the tapes were destined for Michael's private library. They have a real unguarded honesty to them.

"At first I got so many messages from fans around the world asking to see the shows, asking to see the footage and eventually I realised the journey wasn't over and we had to do this."

He added: "It is for the fans and the film will show the development and intentions of the show, and the concert as it moved closer to London."

Ortega has said that the movie will show Jackson was fit enough to perform his planned O2 residency before his death, despite claims to the contrary.
