The 52-year-old filmmaker, who helped pioneer computer animated movies with the release of Toy Story in 1995, will pick up the PGA prize at a ceremony on January 24.
Lasseter has been involved in all ten of Pixar's features, co-directing Toy Story and helming 2006's Cars. Four of the studio's films have scooped the Oscar for best animation.
It will be the first time the PGA has awarded an animator the prestigious Selznick prize. The Guild praised Lasseter's contribution to cinema and described him as "a uniquely talented producer".
