Animated 'Cages' film in the works?
Sandman creator Dave McKean has revealed that his graphic novel Cages could be adapted as an animated feature.

According to MTV, the artist - best known for his collaborations with Neil Gaiman - could be in line to direct and co-write the film.

"Great first meeting about Cages film; a long-term possibility, but good to know all interested parties are on the same page," he wrote on his Twitter account.

The comic book was originally serialised before being released as a telephone book-sized hardcover through Kitchen Sink and NBM. It's storyline takes place in an apartment block, covering a multiplot narrative about cats and the building's creative inhabitants.

"I would be adapting [and] directing," he added. "I did Cages 20 [years] ago, [I] think it could grow into [an] unusual animated film."

McKean previously co-wrote and directed the feature length MirrorMask, his most recent cinematic collaboration with Gaiman.
