DreamWorks acquires 'Wicked' rights
DreamWorks has reportedly acquired the movie rights to young adult five-book series Wicked.

Aaron and Matthew Benay will pen the adaptation of Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie's novels, which follow the adventures of a young woman who is descended from a powerful coven of witches, reports Variety.

The girl runs into difficulties when she falls for a boy who is a member of a rival coven. The Gotham Group (The Spiderwick Chronicles) will produce.

The fifth book Resurrection was published in July. Previous titles have included Spellbound, Legacy, Curse and Witch.

The Bennays recently produced the script for Brad Bird's upcoming earthquake movie
1906.
