Robin Wright Penn has insisted that she thinks her film career will benefit once her divorce from Sean Penn is finalised.

The actress, who filed for divorce from the Oscar-winning actor citing "irreconcilable differences", has said that she is looking forward to moving on with her life and career.

Wright Penn told Redbook magazine: "I turned down so many films because I wanted to be a mum that they stopped offering. I gave up a lot for my kids, but I didn't give up... I'm very content with the way it all turned out.

"I have no regrets for my life that has been lived. New beginnings, definitely. For me, my career too. My kids are older now."

As for her public marriage split, the 43-year-old said: "It never feels good. Yes, it's divorce - it's a given that it will be public. But... it's so disrespectful. It's like, 'You're an actress, you owe us this?' 'F**k you' is what I say."

Wright Penn's new film The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee arrives in US cinemas in limited release on November 27.
