Hassan, Blethyn chat 'Dead Man Running'
Published Friday, Oct 30 2009, 06:00 GMT | By Stella Papamichael
Everybody wishes they had a mum like Brenda Blethyn, including hard-man Tamer Hassan. As the star and executive producer of Dead Man Running, the former bit player had Blethyn top of the list to play the wheelchair-bound mother of his beleaguered ex-con. Her very life is at stake when the local mob boss (played by 50 Cent) calls in a debt. Hassan also hit up his old mate, footballer Rio Ferdinand, to bankroll the film along with Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole.
Talking to DS, he reflects on childhood days spent with Ferdinand on a Peckham council estate and Blethyn reveals why she was only too happy to hang out with this bunch of geezers.
