The studio, part of the Weinstein Company, is reportedly readying the film for a 2010 release in US cinemas.
Many directors have been rumoured to helm the remake, but none have yet to officially sign on. French filmmaker Pascal Laugier was attached to direct earlier this year but has since left the project, citing creative differences.
The Hellraiser remake is part of a slew of horror projects Dimension plans to develop and release next year, including Scream 4 and remakes of Scanners and An American Werewolf in London.
The original Hellraiser was released in 1987 and spawned seven sequels, all starring Doug Brady as the iconic 'Pinhead'.
